I was born on February 10, 1948 in small place Golnik, where my father was warden in the sanatorium for lung disease. Later, when I had to go to elementary school, we moved to Kranj, and stay there for 9 years. In elementary school I began to be interested in radio technique. In Kranj, there was a radioclub, and I went to see what is going on there. But then it was required knowledge of CW to get HAM licensee, and it took whole year to learn it, what was too long for an eager young man. So after ending elementary school and moving to Ljubljana, I went to Secondary School of Electrical Engineering. There I’ve got a solid knowledge of electrical and radio technique. Right after ending Secondary School, I had to go to Yugoslav National Army, where every healthy young man had to go for 18 month at that time. I was assigned to communication unit, and there, we learned CW. We finished course in three month! Better learning CW, then shooting around HI. So in 1969, me and few other soldiers, got our first HAM licensee, and with the help of our officer, we established Radioklub Tolmin - YU9DAP.

After living army, I went to Radioclub Triglav – YU3APR in Ljubljana, but there were too crowded with eager youngsters, and only one transceiver. So I put to rest my HAM activity, until 1975, when a group of radioamateurs, including me, established Radioclub Kricac – YU9DRL  on National Radio and TV broadcasting station in Ljubljana ( RTV Slovenija,  https://www.rtvslo.si ). In that time, I’ve got my personal call YU3TJM, and bought my first transceiver Yaesu FT-7. I was working in RTV Slovenija from 1971 till 2012, when I was retired. My last job was in Computerusers Help Center. I changed my call to YU3JM, then after Slovenija became an independed state in 1991, my call sign was changed to S51JM and now is S51J. Meanwhile I went to live in Cerkno, and became a member of Radioclub Cerkno – S50E.

My current equipement is FT-2000, FT-450, Linear Amps UK Ranger 811H, SPS Expert 1,3K-FA and Trival vertical antenna AD-2/D-9 tuned by MFJ-962D antenna tuner.
