I began as a CB radio operator in 1982-1992. I became an amateur radio operator In 1992. On March 30th the same year I made contact with Space Shuttle Atlantis Payload Specialist Dirk Frimout callsign ON1AFD, using a 5 watt VHF portable with my first callsign of VE3LAB, I was hooked every since. I moved to Ottawa and then got into digital modes on VHF and UHF. I,m also on HF. My radio is an ICOM 756 Pro with a vertical antenna known as the SE HF-360 SIGMA EUROCOM HF VERTICAL FIBRE GLASS ANTENNA it covers 6-80 meters, I also use a MFJ-1778, G5RV, WIRE ANTENNA. My last job was a senior service communcations technician. I started out as a radio broadcaster from 1985. I moved from North Bay after being on CKAT/CFCH radio to Orillia, Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver, And in Terrace I was on CFTK/CJFW then CFNR and moved to Edmonton then back to my hometown to retire. I guess you could say the radio bug bit me a log time ago and still has a hold on me. Thanks for the contact. 73 de VA3LBX Larry.
